Dr Kosala Mutukumarana is a renowned Business and life coach who conduct motivational programs in achiving success in business as well as in life as a whole.
Dr Kosala Mutukumarana is a Senior Medical Doctor as
well as a Palliative Care Activist and a Counsellor with for almost 25 years
experience . He has been actively involved in teaching communication and
counseling of cancer patients for last 15 years. He is presently attached to the Palliative Care
unit of the National Cancer Control Programme of the Ministry of Health ,Sri
Lanka.
He worked as the Medical Officer in Medical
oncological,oncosurgical clinical setup for 4 years followed by as the Founder
in charge of the Patients’ Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) of the National
Cancer Institute (NCI) Sri Lanka for 10 years ,which gave him a vast experience
in issues faced by Sri Lankans affected with cancer in view of psycho-social ,economical as well
as spiritual issues in adition to physical aspects which developed an
enthusiasm in reducing the burden of cancer.
He was trained initially at the Royal Marsden
Hospital in London, UK. and at the Community Based Counselling Center London
Hevan on Counselling and palliative care. He received his further training at
the Birmingham City University and Counselling and Care Center Singapore
affiliated to the National Council of Social Service and a member organization
of the Community Chest of Singapore. The experience at the Tianjin Medical
university, China, and the Kubansky Medical Academy Krasnodar Russia and the
National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka
made his experience
multi-cultural.
He has undergone training in communication in
healthcare at the National Institute of Health Sciences and followed the training
conducted by the European Association of Communication in Healthcare (EACH) at
the University of Peradeniya ,Sri Lanka
He was the Founder-Medical Officer Incharge Patient
advice and Liaision Service of National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka (present
Apeksha Hospital )
He is a Master trainer in Communication for the
National Council for Communication Skills in Health Care in Sri Lanka.(NCCH)
He is a member of the Asia Pacific Hospice and
Palliative Care (APHN)and one of the few who are following the first ever
master trainer program in palliative care and leadership in Sri Lanka conducted
by the APHN
He
is the Medical Director Palliative Care of the Heal the Life Sri Lanka and
Cancer Survivors Support Network and he is the Project coordinator of the
Caregiver Sri Lanka and Voice of Blue Pea of the National Authority for Tobacco
and Alchohol
He conducts numerous programs on Cancer Prevention, Counselling,
Communication, Relationship Building, Stress Management and Survivorship for
doctors , public health nursing sisters, nurses and other healthcare staff in
Sri Lanka as well as to the Estate Medical Officers in the plantation sector as
well as to the General Public.
