Dr Kosala Mutukumarana has over 14 years of experience in the government cancer network.He joined the National Cancer Hospital in 1999 as a Medical officer in Oncology unit . He worked with different types of patients including children.
He saw the suffering of people who were affected with cancer. While touching their cold hands he felt their warm hearts, the love they wanted from the deep of their mind. The spotlight has turned in to the focus.Dr Kosala Mutukumarana under guidance of the renowned oncological surgeon Dr Indranee Amarasinghe started the Patient Advice and liaison Service at the National Cancer Institute of SrlLanka which was a missing need for the cancer patients who were under treatment at the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka which is now renamed as Apeksha Hospital.Apeksha Hospital is the National Cancer Center of Srilanka.
Patients Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) which is commonly Known to Cancer patients and the Staff of Apeksha Hospital as the Counseling Center offers many services to cancer patients in Srilanka and to the community. Individual and group counseling programs were one of the major services offered.
Dr Kosala Mutukumarana then joined the National Cancer Control Programme of Srilanka where he recognized the awareness need of the Srilankan community to prevent cancer to live a fruitful life .


 
 


Dr Kosala Mutukumarana and his enthusiastic team conducts many cancer awareness programs and early detection clinics as well as palliative care programs following are only some of them.!
